Wesker is Dead, Resident Evil Lives On
After Resident Evil 5, the word was that the Resident Evil series was going in a new direction, possibly in the direction of a full reboot. Apparently, that's not the case as Resident Evil 6 was just confirmed (with video that you can see above!) for a release date of 11/20/2012. The story, according to Capcom, after the break:
**
"It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President's side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack. With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world's population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left."
Leon S. Kennedy and Chris Redfield will both be playable characters in what should amount to epic Falcon Punches and Swag Jackets. There's speculation that the blonde girl in the trailer is Ashley Graham, daughter of President Graham when Resident Evil 4 took place. Also of note is that the gameplay featured is much more action oriented in Chris' scenario and Leon's scenario appears to preserve the survival horror elements.
There's also that one guy who appears to be destroying zombies by punching them who may or may not be a playable character or even the antagonist.
Color me excited.
Update: The third playable character has been confirmed to be a direct relative of an already existing Resident Evil character. Barry Burton's son? Another goddamn Redfield? Wesker's illegitimate love child?
