So my last post was about Captain America. The only movie I've seen since then was actually one that's been around for a while, Cowboys & Aliens. It was pretty good and did not disappoint. I was rather surprised to see Clancy Brown in this film, since I know him best as the Kurgan and Lex Luthor. Much to my horror, Adam Beech was in the movie too, playing... well, Adam Beech. The guy can't act and thinks that squinting his eyes and talking with a raspy voice makes him a better actor. Paul Dano was great with the small screen time he had, playing the most annoying spoiled shit kid in the Old West; I wish he had more screen time. Sam Rockwell was really awesome as well, although he usually is. If anyone stood out among the awesome, it was Harrison Ford playing an unlikeable character. Ford almost always plays characters you can't help but love, but the character he played was just downright mean and rude; It was awesome.
Hey, the NFL Lockout ended! And the Pre-season was left intact! Just like everyone predicted it would! Yeah, it was much ado about nothing in the end, but it was better than ESPN constantly talking about BRETT FAVRE all day. In other news, the NBA Lockout is still going on. The NBA players are also showing the NBA how little they need the NBA, playing in the Drew League, signing contracts in Europe and Asia, and just generally going about their business. Although in the case of the NBA Lockout the Players Union are the bad guys this time, they will probably win because the NBA knows it cannot survive without its big stars.
In video games, the Tokyo Game Show is coming up soon after Gamescom just recently ended in Europe. No major announcements are expect at TGS, other than Nintendo saying they have a "big announcement." The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword has an official release date now, November 20. The September-November release calendar is now looking incredibly busy, but there is literally something for everyone. Gears of War 3 is Xbox only, Uncharted 3 is PS3 only, Zelda: Skyward Sword is Wii only, and Arkham City is for PC, Xbox, PS3.
Lastly, you can expect my Deus Ex: Human Revolution review once I finish the game.
