C.J. Wilson is Fucking Psychotic

This is C.J. Wilson, "ace" pitcher for the Texas Rangers by default, since Cliff Lee decided to take his talents crawling back to the Philadelphia Phillies. Wilson was probably the most overrated pitcher in the American League last year (other than C.C. Sabathia), winning games mostly due to run-support.

This past season, C.J. Wilson achieved a feat so rare and infamous, that no one has ever accomplished it. He's the first starting pitcher in the history of Major League Baseball to lose the All-Star Game, an ALDS game, an ALCS game, and a World Series game all in the same season. Yes you heard right, the Rangers somehow made it to the World Series despite him and probably lost the World Series because of him.

Well now, Wilson is a free agent and he's going around team shopping. Allegedly, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of the United States of America of Earth were interested in Wilson until he (and presumably his agent) demanded a $100 million contract. Yes, $100,000,000 No one is quite sure exactly how many years this contract would be, but based on the fact that he is 31, he doesn't exactly have a lot of years left in him to be a starting pitcher. Let's assume he plans to pitch until he's 37 years old, where he transfers to a relief pitcher or closer role. That would be a 6-year contract worth $16.6 million per year. I may be alone here, but who the hell would pay a known choker $16.6 million per year? Yes, a lengthier contract would cause him to earn less money per year, but who honestly believes he's going to keep pitching into his 40s?

At this point, C.J. Wilson will either find himself on a poor team with a poor contract or not any roster at all. My guess is the latter, because until the revelation about the Angels, I hadn't heard of any team having any interest whatsoever in Wilson.

You Know What I Hate? Fucking Nitpickers.

This is Benzaie. He is French. He works for Channel Awesome (so you know right off the bat he's an idiot). A while back, Channel Awesome contributor TheSpoonyOne made a video bitching about how terrible The Legend of Zelda; The Wind Waker was. His main complaint was the art style, mostly complaining that Nintendo didn't make this game with more realistic graphics but keep the gameplay the same. Many shared this opinion, excited that The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess was going to be appeasing the fans who liked Wind Waker's gameplay, but hated the art.

But then assholes like Benzaie came along, completely unpleaseable. Twilight Princess' goal was to combine the best of Ocarina of Time with the best of Wind Waker, creating the perfect swan song for the Gamecube. Unfortunately, the game was delayed to the point that it also came out for the Wii, but it was still an awesome game. It's not the greatest Zelda game at all, but it is one of the better ones. Benzaie made a list of the "top 5 reasons why Twilight Princess sucks," implying that is in fact a bad game. In reality, it's actually a "top 2". Here are his top 2?:
  1. Poor Game & Level Design Choices
    1. Hates the skateboard(?); claiming that it is rarely used. He was probably referring to the Spinner.
    2. Thinks the Double Clawshot was a lazy inclusion and that two clawshots is stupid.
    3. Hates that the Magical Armor depletes rupees when used and costs so much money to get. Claims the Fierce Deity's Mask was better.
    4. Thinks the Iron Boots were only used in one dungeon and complains that the mayor of Ordon gives it to you.
    5. Claims the Gale Boomerang was not used at all after the first dungeon.
    6. Hates that Wolf Link doesn't play very differently from Link (what?).
    7. Hates the Howling Stones, Hawk Leafs, and Horse Grass.
    8. Nitpicks that the songs that play when you slash an enemy in Wind Waker have been removed.
    9. Thinks he was ripped-off by Nintendo for purchasing the Wii to play Twilight Princess.
  2. Story & World
    1. "Zero risk" of art direction and looks "exactly" like OoT.
    2. Thinks Wind Waker was much more creative with it's art style, noticeably disagreeing with Spoony.
    3. Complains about the forgettable Resistance characters.
    4. Complains that the map is too similar to Ocarina of Time (what?).
    5. Complains that Yeto's house, the Snowpeak Ruins, is a dungeon.
    6. Disappointed by the Ooccoo being the Sky people.
    7. Complains that Twilight Princess "doesn't follow the Zelda timeline"
    8. Hated the ending with Midna destroying the Mirror of Twilight
    9. Claims the game can be completed in less than 12 hours very easily.
    10. Claims that you have to do the same things twice as Wolf Link and Link, mostly complaining about the Sacred Grove.
    11. Complains about the bosses' difficulty, claiming they can be beaten in "seconds".
    12. Thinks that Twilight Princess is more of an unofficial remake of Ocarina of Time.
    13. Claims Zelda is its own genre and default every Zelda game is decent because no other game has copied its style
    14. Expects Skyward Sword to have a double boomerang.
Now obviously, that's one of the worst organized Top 2's I've ever seen. It's entirely made up of nitpicking, which I will now debunk!

  1. The Spinner is used quite extensively in the dungeon you get it, even used as the primary weapon against the boss. It is also used frequently in the City in the Sky and used to get several heart pieces around Hyrule.
  2. The Double Clawshot turns you in Spider-Link! It's the closest Link gets to flying in Twilight Princess, which is why the 2nd clawshot is in the City in the Sky, which Benzaie keeps calling the "Sky Temple." Benzaie extensively complains that the Ooccoo considered the clawshot somehow important, but the City in the Sky is not a temple, it is a City that was once obviously occupied by people Link's size. It's made very obvious that the double clawshot is how people got around at one point.
  3. The Magical Armor is actually very easy to get provided that you deliver hot springwater to Castle Town before donating the 2nd set of rupees to Malo Mart. There's no magic in the game, so how else could Link fuel his magic armor? In Wind Waker, the magic armor depleted your magic, so the only thing that could be depleted in Twilight Princess is your huge rupee collection. The Fierce Deity's Mask is only available at the very end of Majora's Mask, your prize for getting every mask, but the Magical Armor can be obtained very early.
  4. The iron boots are used in two dungeons extensively, one more than Ocarina of Time or Wind Waker. Complaining that "your neighbor" gives them to you is pure nitpicking.
  5. The Gale Boomerang is used infrequently, but it is still used every so often.
  6. Wolf Link runs faster than Link, but he deliberately plays the same as Link so that one doesn't need to learn two different control schemes.
  7. The songs played are in reference to Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, and Wind Waker, but they don't play a major part in the game. The only Howling Stone even required is the one to learn the Ending Blow.
  8. He admits that he's nitpicking about the fighting songs and I do agree with him that they were fun in Wind Waker, but that was a much more cartoony game where you expect random sound effects while fighting.. It just wouldn't make much sense in Twilight Princess.
  9. Nintendo made very clear that the Wii version of Twilight Princess had only limited functionality with the Wii, only able to incorporate the fishing game with true Wii controls. Nintendo never said the Wii version was any better, just that it would play a little bit differently than the Gamecube version due to being mirrored and having more on-screen items equipped.
  10. TP has a much darker design than OoT and claiming it looks exactly the same is incredibly ignorant.
  11. I actually agree with this point, but TP's point was to make a much darker game.
  12. I agree with this one too. None of them are that memorable other than Rusl, who you meet at the beginning of the game.
  13. The map is similar to OoT on purpose. By that logic, he should be complaining that OoT's map is too similar to A Link to the Past's map.
  14. Snowpeak Ruins is definitely a dungeon that screams "wtf?" but what about Inside Jabu-Jabu's Belly? What about Beneath the Well (which was originally a house)? What about THE MOON?
  15. There were hints everywhere that the Ooccoo were the Sky people, but the number of artifacts dealing with the Sky people imply that the Ooccoo didn't always look like face-chickens or may not even be the real Sky people if Skyward Sword is hinting at anything.
  16. The Zelda Timeline is FAN-MADE. Nintendo has never confirmed that the timeline is real, only stating that a game comes before or after Ocarina of Time.
  17. Benzaie needs better English, because it was stated numerous times why the Mirror had to be destroyed.
  18. 12 hours on a first run is really stretching it. On a 2nd playthrough, one could probably complete the game in 12 hours while skipping a lot of heart pieces, but completing the game quickly most involves save-warping.
  19. The only thing you do twice is the Sacred Grove, but you actually follow a different path. The Twilight areas are mostly to familiarize you with the new area since they are very large zones.
  20. Some bosses are easier than others, but none can be completed in less than a minute.
  21. If TP is a remake of OoT, then OoT is a remake of LttP, which is a remake of the original Zelda.
  22. Apparently, Benzaie has never heard of Okami.
  23. The double boomerang was already obtainable! It was Zora Link's ranged attack in Majora's Mask!
At the end of the video Benzaie even admits that he's going to get Skyward Sword even though he hates motion controls. Troll video or endless nitpicking? You decide.

Osama bin Laden's Death Causes People to Finally React with Their True Feelings

It hasn't even been a week since Osama bin Laden was killed and there are already conspiracy theorists saying that he isn't really dead. The horrifying part is that those people are inside of our own country. No, they're not Al Qaeda members, they're the people who work at Fox News. Since Monday, people like Andrew Napolitano and Glenn Beck have made allusions and insinuated that because the White House chose not to release the photo of a dead Osama bin Laden, there must be something that Barack Obama is hiding.

It's truly disgusting that these two assholes could suggest something like that. These two morons seem to know nothing about how military operations work, shocking especially for Napolitano since he once served as a justice for the New Jersey Supreme Court. On the other hand, it's not that shocking since Napolitano was a draft dodger, but continues to spew Libertarian rhetoric. Beck on the other hand, is just a tool hired by the RNC to spew fringe views and make money for the party.

Another silly thing has nothing to do with the conspiracy theories, but rather in how people reacted to Osama dying. There was cheer and jubilation in the streets, cheering for the death of the man responsible for the World Trade Center bombing, the USS Cole bombing, and the September 11th attacks. Last time I checked, we're a predominately Christian nation. According to scripture, cheering for the death of an enemy is just as bad as our enemy cheering for our death. Did any of that Bible stuff matter? Of course not, because young people are less religious than ever before. People my age really don't particularly give a shit about religion and will only claim to be a member of a certain religious group when it's convenient. So in the end, the cheering for the death of bin Laden wasn't just appropriate, it was natural.

Which brings us to the next moron, Rashard Mendenhall. In case you don't know who he is, he's a running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mendenhall decided to spout his Christian bullshit saying we should never cheer for the death of another, but he also took time to spew his nonsensical "truther" nonsense. If you don't know what a truther is, they're the idiots who think that 9/11 was caused by the Bush administration detonating bombs at the World Trade Center and Pentagon to ensure that the twin towers would fall. The belief that a jetliner crashing into a building with full fuel would not cause it to collapse is just ridiculous. Mendenhall was extensively criticized for his comments and the Steelers organization put out a press release that Mendenhall's opinions do not reflect the face of the Steelers franchise. You can expect Mendenhall to be released from his contract if they feel that the locker room will be contentious whenever play resumes in the NFL.

Another AH HA! of this whole Osama bin Laden thing is how Pakistan has responded. When Obama was running for president, he made a somewhat controversial remark in the 2nd presidential debate that if he had intelligence that Osama bin Laden was hiding in Pakistan and the Pakistani government was unwilling or unable to help, he would go in anyway and kill bin Laden. Well, that exact thing happened and the US has officially said that it did not contact Pakistan until after they got Osama bin Laden's body out of Pakistani airspace, admitting that they violated their airspace and sovereignty.

Afterwards, in a "closed-door" session of Congress, CIA director Leon Panetta said that Pakistan was either "involved or incompetent," which is an opinion shared by the majority of Americans; either the Pakistani government was harboring bin Laden, or their military is so incompetent that they could not find bin Laden living a mile away from their nation's largest military academy. To have the Pakistani military be that incompetent is like something from Super Sentai. Only a Super Sentai villain could maintain prestige while constantly failing over and over again.

A reporter tried to get cute with White House press secretary Jay Carney today, asking if Panetta's opinion was one shared by the White House. Of course, the reporter stupidly mentioned that it was a "closed-door" session, to which Jay Carney asked if he meant that it was a classified meeting with no reporters. The reporter said yes, so Carney immediately replied, "Then I have no answer."

Watching these press conferences the last 2 days has been truly hilarious as reporters accuse the White House of presenting two stories with wildly different facts. The fact of the matter is that the two narratives are not that different and the 2nd one actually adds more details. Here are the discrepancies between the two stories:

Brennan's Version
  • Other than bin Laden, 3 men and 1 woman were killed, none were civilians
  • 2 men were couriers to bin Laden, one of which owned the compound
  • The other man was one of bin Laden's sons
  • The woman killed was used as a human shield, either willingly or against her will, and was assumed to be bin Laden's wife
  • Bin Laden was armed with a gun and participated in the firefight
  • Bin Laden was killed by a shot in the head above the left eye
  • The operation took about 40 minutes
  • The majority of the 40 minutes was spent collecting intel, which was described as a "treasure trove"
Carney's Version
  • Other than bin Laden, 3 men and 1 woman were killed, none were civilians
  • 2 men were couriers to bin Laden, one of which owned the compound
  •  The other man was one of bin Laden's sons, but Brennan got the name wrong
  • The woman killed was killed in crossfire, and is assumed to be the courier's wife
  • Bin Laden's wife was in the same room as Osama and assaulted Navy SEALs and was shot in the leg; she survived
  • Bin Laden was NOT armed, but may have been reaching for a gun when he was killed
  • Bin Laden was shot in the chest and in the head above the left eye
  • The operation took about 40 minutes
  • The majority of the 40 minutes was spent collecting intel, which was described as a "treasure trove"
So what are the discrepancies?
  • Bin Laden's son's name
  • The identity of the woman killed
  • Whether or not bin Laden was armed
  • The amount of times bin Laden was shot
Is this really what journalistic integrity is about these days? YOU GOT HIS SON'S NAME WRONG, WHY DID YOU GET ONE OF HIS 56 CHILDREN'S NAME WRONG!? YOU SAID IT WAS HIS WIFE THAT DIED BUT NOW YOU SAY SHE'S ALIVE! WHO IS THIS OTHER WOMAN? YOU SAID HE WAS ARMED, BUT NOW YOU ADMIT TO SHOOTING AN UNARMED MAN! YOU SAID HE WAS SHOT ONCE BEFORE, NOW YOU SAY TWICE, WHICH ONE IS IT?

For the part of his son's name, who really gives a shit? The man has 56 kids, you can't expect for them to identify which one he is right away. As far as the identity of who the dead woman is, again, who cares? Bin Laden never shared details with his family about his work with Al Qaeda, so she wouldn't know his activities whether she was alive or not. As far as whether bin Laden was armed or not, again, who gives a shit? HE'S OSAMA BIN LADEN, YOU HAVE TO KILL THE BASTARD. Then, my favorite part, the amount of times bin Laden was shot. In the first version, they never actually said he was only shot once: they only said the shot to the head killed him; The 2nd version said he was shot twice.

Clearly, anyone with a brain can see that reporters try to spin the facts right after receiving them. Another offensive thing that White House reporters have been doing is trying to grill the White House for further details when they have repeatedly said there are still many details that need to remain classified.

Dr. Phil Has No Idea How to "Fix" Generation Y

Dr. Phil McGraw is a retired psychologist, known for making many appearances on the Oprah Winfrey Show and hosting his own show, Dr. Phil. Dr. McGraw has come under fire over the years for his psychological approach, which is viewed as being far too simplistic and usually ineffective. Just to make things even more complicated, he has received criticism for his own show over the years because of how he has recruited guests occasionally. Of course, just to put the icing on the cake, despite him being an outspoken critic of all pornography, whether it be softcore or hardcore, his son Jay married one of the Dahm triplets, one of the 3 Playmates of the Month in the December 1998 issue of Playboy.

Clearly, Dr. McGraw is not the best psychologist in the world, nor was he capable of raising a son with the same values as him.

Here though, I need to discuss Dr. McGraw's latest shortcoming which has been getting constant attention on his show. McGraw has long criticized "Generation Y" (or as I prefer, the Nintendo Generation) for having an inflated sense of entitlement and lack of ambition. Despite McGraw usually blaming parents for badly raising children, lately McGraw has been criticizing 15-25 year olds for their own behavior without consideration that times have changed. The most noteworthy case on his show has been "The Dr. Phil Family," a family originally at odds over the oldest daughter misbehaving, doing drugs, and having unprotected sex in high school. Since McGraw originally featured the family on the show, the daughter has gotten progressively worse, having 2 children with unknown fathers, losing custody of both children, and being addicted to meth at one point. Being hypocritical, McGraw has never blamed her parents for raising her to be a bad child, rather focusing on having her correct her own actions.

That in itself is part of McGraw's inability to understand Generation Y. McGraw criticizes our generation for being too self-entitled and unambitious, yet he expects a product of that generation to solve their own problems after being raised by the hippie generation.

The main problem with my generation is our parents. Our parents grew up in a time of uncertainty; a war was being fought in Vietnam for seemingly no reason, the President could no longer be trusted, violence was erupting over race, and women were fighting a losing battle for equality. Growing up in that era, our parents instilled us with their values, just as their parents had done for them. Except this time, we would learn to mistrust the government and all authority figures, accept casual sex as teenagers, and know that marijuana usage would not face severe consequences.

In short, Dr. McGraw blames parents for misbehaving children, but once the kids start being sexually active it's all their fault. Makes perfect sense.

"Friday" by Rebecca Black

Yeah I know, I'm like 2 months behind this whole "Friday" thing, but I really don't care for Youtube celebrities unless they roll out multiple videos in succession and they're GOOD.

On February 10, 2011, a video was posted on Youtube, featuring the debut single of 13-year-old Rebecca Black, "Friday." Her label, Ark Music Factory, decided that Youtube would be the best place for exposure. Apparently, AMF did not exactly understand that Youtube has a Like/Dislike system rather than 1-5 Stars and people have the ability to comment on videos. As of the writing of this sentence, "Friday" has 69,665,519 views and 1,319,187 dislikes compared to 160,595 likes. Unfortunately for Rebecca, her song is just absolutely horrendous for so many reasons. The lyrics are just atrocious with lines like "Friday, Friday, fun, fun, fun" and "Yesterday was Thursday, today is Friday." The melody sucks too, it's just impossible to sing along with the song (although why anyone would want to is beyond me). And just to top it all off, Rebecca is not a good singer and she needed to be auto-tuned to sound even remotely like she was singing.
She also has a face that stares into your soul.
It's very sad really. Even 5 years ago, Rebecca's single would probably have hit the shelves, maybe an iTunes only single, and then no one would ever hear of who she was. Now with so many singers putting their official music videos on Youtube, music labels are taking risks and putting new singers for the whole world to critique.

This whole "Friday" fiasco is one of the biggest reasons that I believe the music labels are the main culprits of ruining the music industry. Artists are not allowed to own their own music unless they purchase it and even then, it's an auction for the highest bidder. Because of this lack of ownership, there's been a trend ever since the death of Kurt Cobain of musicians making music to make money and not because they love singing and the poetry behind songs. The boy band craze, the teeny boppers of the early 00's, and the Black Eyed Peas; all of these were created by musicians with a relative amount of talent wanting money. The artists who actually sing because they could care less about the money noticeably release songs and albums much more infrequently than those who are all about the cash.

And then, there's weird cases like Lady Gaga. Stefani Germanotta was an unsuccessful and struggling artist in her late teens early 20s, but she possessed uncanny lyrical writing and a voice like few others. Follow in the footsteps of Alicia Keyes, Germanotta did not reinvent herself to become a professional singer and rather just stayed Stefani. None of this worked of course, and she eventually was reborn as Lady Gaga, a woman? who dresses incredibly crazy and has songs you might find in a club. One thing that set those songs apart though, was her ability to actually sing and lyrics with weight behind them. It was a success and now, even though Gaga still dresses crazy and makes songs intended to be danced to, people generally know Lady Gaga to be a fantastic singer with poetry behind her music. Unfortunately, she had to reinvent herself to become known and bring her love of music to the world. As much as she says "this is who I am," it's very clear in interviews that she is incredibly uncomfortable dressing in the outlandish ways she does, similar to how Christina Aguilera was not a fan of all the pop songs she had to sing to compete with Britney Spears.
Left, the Christina manufactured by Disney. Right, X-Tina breaks free from Disney to become herself.

Why do Natural Disasters Bring Out the Worst in People?

Over the weekend, Japan suffered probably its greatest disaster ever, an 8.9 earthquake, a tsunami so massive it wiped out an entire city from the map, and a potential nuclear meltdown. Although so far the death toll is small for a disaster of this magnitude, we have to thank the Japanese peoples' preparedness for just such a scenario. Unfortunately, it's times like these that bring out the worst in people.

Over the last few days, an unfortunately large amount of disparaging comments have been made towards the Japanese, particularly on Facebook. The vast majority of these comments state that this is what the Japanese get for bombing Pearl Harbor. Of particular, and rather ironic note, most of the people making these "karmic" comments are African-American. Even worse still, most of these comments are from people younger than 30. Why do blacks between the age of 20-30 seem to hate the Japanese so much, at least on Facebook? It's quite mind-boggling really. A women's college basketball player recently had to make a public apology for comments she made on her Facebook that echoed these "Pearl Harbor karma" comments.

Gilbert Gottfried posted a few Earthquake/Tsunami related jokes on his twitter, which ended up getting him fired as the voice of the AFLAC duck. Gottfried probably didn't know that AFLAC is the number 1 insurance provider in Japan. Although Gottfried has become known recently for making "too-soon" jokes, particularly at the expense of his good friend Greg Giraldo's death, the Japan jokes crossed the line, even though they were funny.

Of course, this isn't the first time something like this has happened. After every major natural disaster, disparaging comments about the victims always pop up, but with the proliferation of social media, these comments spread faster and further.

Top 11 Reasons Why You Should Stay the Fuck Away From thatguywiththeglasses.com

The topic's title is misleading, sorry. But so is their website's so-called "Channel Awesome". It's not awesome at all.

Meet Doug Walker, AKA That Guy With the Glasses, AKA the Nostalgia Critic. You may have seen his 5-Second Movies or Nostalgia Critic videos on Youtube a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. The reason I say "may have seen" is because his videos were pulled from Youtube for copyright reasons, posting very long sequences from movies and basically making cliff note videos of movies rather than actual reviews. After getting banned from Youtube, Doug and a friend of his started up thatguywiththeglasses.com to post his videos without Youtube's strict content enforcement and to invite other people to come along and join the party. Over time, more people joined the show, now called Channel Awesome, most notably TheSpoonyOne, Angry Joe, and Linkara.

In the beginning, Walker seemed to actually have pretty good content. The Nostalgia Critic videos were usually well researched and despite Doug Walker's ability to make the most annoying noises on the planet, were incredibly funny to watch for people born between the years 1980-1990, otherwise known as one of the demographic that watches the most movies, television, and plays the most video games. The other major contributors, Spoony, Joe, and Linkara, reviewed shitty old games and movies, shitty current games, and shitty comics respectively. Do you notice a trend here?

Doug Walker managed to very quickly jump the shark and posted a video ranting about the Angry Video Game Nerd, saying he was basically a copy of him, doing reviews of shitty old games (of course, AVGN had been working for a few years by this point). The Nostalgia Critic fans started spamming and flaming AVGN's websites eventually causing the AVGN fans to troll Doug Walker's site. And hence, his plan was complete: he attracted visitors to his site. In reality, this was all planned because James Rolfe, the AVGN, found Walker's 5-Second Movies pretty funny and wanted to see them continue. Walker had to push this further though, and ended up doing a series of videos with Rolfe pretending that they were going to have an epic battle of Nerd vs Critic. Of course, this whole thing was just to promote Walker's website which was still rather new.

With the mission complete, Walker and his friends were allowed to make all the content they wanted, shitty or not, and keep people watching for basically the same reasons people listen to Howard Stern, "they can't wait to see what they do next." Walker's content started going downhill around July 2009 when he started reviewing movies that nobody had seen, even his target audience. Just to add to this nonsense, he stopped making 5-Second Movies, probably his best content, way back in 2008. Ever since mid-2009, his Nostagia movies have been approaching content that is increasingly more and more obscure, resorting to reviewing movies that are less than 10 years old and movies that he admits that he didn't know existed until recently.
That's just getting started on the bullshit, however. TheSpoonyOne, a Final Fantasy fan, but only of numbers IV, VI, VII, and XII (wouldn't that just make him a JRPG fan, not a Final Fantasy fan?), decided to review Final Fantasy VIII, well-known upon its release for being a game that divided the fanbase, although these days the general opinion is that FF8 is well-regarded and people were too quick to jump on it mainly for not being FF7. His FF8 review (a series of eleven videos, because he wanted his audience to see "exactly" how horrible it was) started in September 2008 and finally came to a conclusion almost a full year later in July 2009 (hmm, about the same time Walker posted his Steel review). In the video, Spoony ends up dressed as Squall in a fairly accurate costume and even has a fucking gunblade. If he hated FF8 that much, why does he own... well, any of that?

Spoony only continued to prove his idiocy a year later when he started a video series talking about how horrible Final Fantasy X is, a game that has close to zero negative reviews. He originally only made one video, stating at the end that the game was too horrible to continue. A few months later, he made 2 more videos, allegedly due to "fan demand," but it became obvious why it took so long in the final video: he had to get a Tidus costume of course! If you hate a game that much, why dress up like the character you hate the most? Why can't you make a friend go get the costume and dress up instead?

Spoony's worst problem however, is his utter inability to take any constructive criticism. After a series of incredibly stupid videos, people started leaving thoughtful criticisms asking Spoony to review better material or better yet, stop making as many videos to up the quality of his videos. Of course, Mr. Noah Antwiler wouldn't take any of this and just started banhammering anyone on his site's forums who disagreed with anything he said.
Angry Joe is a guy who has taken AVGN's act and changes 2 things for his personal style: he's Mexican and he reviews current games (and sometimes movies!) rather than ancient ones. First off, I need to say that I am of Mexican descent myself; my parents were both born in Mexico. This guy's English is just downright insulting to children of immigrants. He was clearly born in the US, but talks like a cholo from the 'hood. Of course, no cholo from the ghetto could possibly afford all the games he's played, so it's either all an act, or he really does just sound like a fucking asshole.

Angry Joe has been the source of internet backlash on multiple occasions, resulting in him being the one primarily blamed for Channel Awesome's increasingly worse content. In a review of Red Dead Redemption, he stated that it was refreshing to see such a good game in a market littered with sequels... except Red Dead Redemption is a sequel. In his review of The Last Airbender, he started criticizing things about the plot that were actually ripped straight from the TV show, which he later admitted to not watching. Being that the TV show is incredibly popular, response to his review was not kind even though the movie was terrible.

Joe recently interviewed Geoff Keighley at the VGAs, asking him some fan-submitted questions. For those who don't know, Keighley is a well-respected figure in the gaming industry, on par with the likes of Adam Sessler, and one of the main creators of the Spike VGAs. During the interview, Keighley dismissed Joe's incredibly dumb and inflammatory questions and at one point even told him he had 2 minutes left. Joe began to blow up and came close to openly insulting Keighley before he just walked away from the "interview." Needless to say, Joe is viewed very lowly in the eyes of respectable people in the gaming industry.
Linkara. Honestly, the worst thing I can say about Linkara is that he inserts too many of his political views into his reviews of comic books. Nitpicking aside, Lewis Lovhaug very rarely falls guilty to the trope of not doing the research - this guy knows exactly what he's talking about and makes damn sure about it. If there's any reason at all to visit Channel Awesome other than the Nostalgia Critic's videos pre-2009, it's for Linkara's comic book reviews. He started off reviewing godawful comics from the 90s, but he's taken to reviewing comics from the last 10 years more often these days. Linkara does have one problem, but it has nothing to do with his videos. He is the first one to come to a fellow contributor's defense, especially in the cases of Spoony and Angry Joe. Lovhaug is a great guy who has fantastic videos, but he needs to stop defending these assholes.

OK fine, I'll list 11 reasons to stay the fuck away from that website. Why 11? Because Channel Awesome just sucks that much.
  1. The Nostalgia Critic just doesn't try anymore.
  2. Spoony has no idea what he's talking about in any of his reviews.
  3. Spoony thinks he's far more famous than he really is; it doesn't help that the FF Wiki has an entire page dedicated to him.
  4. Angry Joe is a bad stereotype of Mexicans.
  5. Joe has no fucking clue what constitutes a good or bad game and just repeats things he hears on that them there internets.
  6. Linkara is too quick to defend his compatriots.
  7. The Amazing Atheist, now known as the Distressed Watcher, is a goddamn employee of Channel Awesome now, what the fuck?
  8. Everyone who reviews manga or anime pretty much either has no idea what they're talking about or are proof that manga and anime are getting increasingly worse every year.
  9. The Nostalgia Chick can't find a style or even a name to call her own and has resorted to basically becoming a male Linkara who reviews movies the Nostalgia Critic won't review.
  10. They have a fucking store where their loyal fans buy their stupid overpriced shit.
  11. They want you to pay them $17.99 for a DVD copy of Kickassia, their shitty 2-year anniversary movie, despite the fact you can watch the entire movie for free on their own website.
So remember kids, be safe and stay the fuck away from Channel Awesome (unless you want to watch Linkara).

Best Buy Has Lost a Customer... At Least for Their Media Section.

I once worked for Best Buy from November to January 2007-08 in their media section. As of yet, that was my favorite place of employment. Being a movies and video game expert, I greatly enjoyed giving people advice on what movies and games to buy and not buy as well as recommending hidden gems that many people would frequently overlook. However, I also learned of the many ways Best Buy, and pretty much every electronics retailer, rips people off. As an employee, I received an employee discount where I would be able to purchase items at the same price Best Buy purchased them for - essentially Best Buy makes no profit off of employee purchases, hence why they encourage moderate employee discount usage. As an example of highway robbery, and why you should always do the research beforehand, in December 2007, Best Buy sold 6 foot long Rocketfish HDMI cables for somewhere around $60. I purchased 3 of those for $4 each. If that isn't highway robbery, I don't know what is. Nevertheless, I remained a loyal Best Buy customer when it came to purchasing movies, computer hardware, and PC games because they have the best selection on all of the above outside of Fry's - the nearest of which is in Canoga Park.

Earlier this week, I had an experience that has forever changed my opinion on shopping there. Dragonball Z Kai Part Three was released last week, but I neglected to purchase it then because I actually forgot what the actual release date was. I went in on DVDuesday (a term coined by Sarah Lane, formerly of Tech TV then briefly G4), a day Best Buy generally has fresh supply of recent releases. I was disappointed that they only had the DVD version of DBZK Part 3 rather than the Blu-Ray because there is really little point in buying the DVD version of a show specifically remastered for HD viewing. I fetched for a Media employee and was disgusted at the handling of the situation.
"All Action, No Filler!" is a bit of false advertising, but DBZ Kai is unbelievably fantastic compared to the original, especially the new, far more accurate English dub.
The employee, who I purposely picked because he looked like an otaku, responded he wasn't sure if DBZ Kai Part 3 had come out yet, but I whipped out the DVD copy I had found. He was definitely surprised to see that it existed and just as curious as me as to why the Blu-Ray was not on the shelves. He looked in the system and Best Buy apparently had zero copies, but we were both even more shocked to learn that Best Buy's official website did not even list the Blu-Ray version on its website! This really pissed me off because Funimation has an exclusivity deal with Best Buy to make it the only physical store one can buy DBZ Kai from, other than online retailers Amazon.com, Rightstuff.com, and the Funimation store.

I went home and immediately jumped to Amazon where I discovered that of course they had the Blu-Ray in stock. I not only managed to get it with free 2-day shipping with some free trial Amazon was offering, but I bought it for the same price Best Buy was selling the DVD for! I ordered the Blu-Ray on Tuesday afternoon and I woke up Thursday morning to find the package at my doorstep.

Needless to say, I am never buying movies from Best Buy ever again and neither should you.
