New York City: The Mecca of Basketball? I Don't Think So, Tim.

Remember this image, because it could be the last time for a very long time that these two players will be seen in different uniforms. It is official, Chris Paul has been traded to the Los Angeles Clippers. Here's how the trade breaks down:

  • Clippers Get:
    • PG Chris Paul
    • 2 Future 2nd Round Draft Picks
  • Hornets Get:
    • SG Eric Gordon
    • F Al-Farouq Aminu
    • C Chris Kaman
    • Minnesota Timberwolves' 2012 1st Round Draft Pick
This trade is incredibly lopsided for the Hornets, seeing that it is entirely likely they get a high probability of getting the #1 pick of the 2012 draft, at this point (subject to change) likely be Anthony Davis from Kentucky. The team also gets a replacement for the departing David West in Kaman, but he isn't even close to the same level. However, the fact that a star at the level of Chris Paul will be playing for the Clippers, the B-team of LA, means that the Clippers will now attract a wide variety of free agents wishing to play with Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

New York, the Mecca of basketball? Hardly. It's all about L.A., baby.
