Flashpoint Officially Marks the End of DC Universe as we know it

Cover of Justice League #1, to hit stands in September
When Geoff Johns' crossover series, Flashpoint, hit stands, it was revealed to be a story involving mostly the Flashes arriving in alternate universes. While some of the details are still sketchy, there was some thought this was possibly a way for DC to reboot their continuity after Geoff Johns and Grant Morrison have done a lot of work to reincorporate ideas from the Silver Age. Well, the word is official: in September of this year, DC Comics will be rebooting every title and 52 different series will receive a #1. The cover of Justice League #1 hints as to the changes coming to the DC Universe, particularly Aquaman with his left hand, Barry Allen as the Flash, Batman in his old costume from before Final Crisis, Wonder Woman in a variation of her new costume (looking suspiciously like the costume in David E. Kelley's failed Wonder Woman pilot), and Superman wearing a new costume, featuring no Super-panties.

It's still unknown at this point how much will change other than appearances, but it's pretty clear at this point that DC wants to attract new readers while Marvel is busy creating nonsensical stories overseen by Joe Quesada.
