Miami Heat Lose 3 Games in a Row, Kobe Scores 40+ 3 Games in a Row, Harmony Returns to the NBA Universe

WHY CAN'T I HOLD ALL THESE TROPHIES?
Peace and harmony has returned to the NBA. The Lakers are in 1st place of the Pacific Division. The Sacramento Kings and Golden State Warriors are awful. The New York Knicks and Boston Celtics are irrelevant. The Chicago Bulls are off to their best start since Michael Jordan's final year as a Bull. The Dallas Mavericks are the laughingstock of the NBA. The San Antonio Spurs are quietly racking up wins despite missing their best player.

But best of all...

The Miami Heat lost 3 games in a row and it had nothing to do with Lebron James being unclutch in the 4th quarter. In their losses on back-to-back nights against the Warriors and Clippers, much blame was placed on Lebron James pulling disappearing acts in the 4th quarters and overtimes of those games. James made absolutely sure not to disappear at any moment of their game tonight against the Nuggets though, making absolute sure to prove that if the Heat lost, it wasn't his fault. He successfully proved his critics wrong, playing excellently in the 4th quarter, yet the Heat still lost anyway to the Denver Nuggets in a game that was never really close.

The Miami Heat are quite simply, an incredibly average overrated team with an easy schedule. They're also one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA, something that is impossible to overlook, unlike football. Lebron James and Dwyane Wade are easily two of the greatest players in the NBA, without question. The rest of their team is terrible. Chris Bosh is not as good as either of them, but he is good in his own right. Shane Battier is pretty good, but he will always be nothing more than a guy coming off the bench. The rest of the team is really fueled by elitism that is usually only seen in European soccer teams riding on the coattails of 1 or 2 excellent players with middle-tier talent surrounding them.

So why did the Heat lose 3 games in a row to the Warriors, Clippers, and Nuggets? To make a long answer short: Erik Spoelstra. I've never understood why Spoelstra was allowed to keep his head coaching position after horribly mismanaging the team, but after blowing a 2-1 lead in the NBA Finals, and this current 3-game losing streak, the pressure now has to go to Spoelstra.

In other news, Kobe Bryant has scored 40 or more points in 3 consecutive games for the first time since 2007. Whether this is a testament to how Kobe has apparently found the Fountain of Youth in Germany, the Lakers' terrible bench play, or both, is unknown at this point. What is known is that Kobe Bryant, at 33 years old, is currently the NBA's scoring leader. His numbers are so impressive that even ESPN in their infinite coddling of Lebron James, admits that Kobe Bryant is now the early favorite for MVP, based on how terrible Lebron has been in the 4th quarter of games going back to the NBA Finals and how excellent Bryant has been, save for one game against the Nuggets.

I'm not totally sold on this Lakers team winning the championship this year, but it's becoming clear that the team that wins the championship will have the fewest injuries.

Update: Kobe Bryant's last 3 games become even more impressive when you learn that he is the oldest player to ever score 40+ in 3 consecutive games. That's right, not even Michael Jordan or Wilt Chamberlain scored 40+ 3 games in a row at Kobe's age.
